Memorial Day Parade

I’m hoping for great weather on Weds, May 21^st as the residents of Scotia-Glenville and its neighbors honor our veterans. The 80th Annual Memorial Day Parade begins at 6:15 PM on Mohawk Ave. & Vine St. and will proceed east on Mohawk Ave to the Western Gateway Bridge.

This year’s theme is “Still Defending Freedom,” a thank you to the veterans of all wars and conflicts.
The Grand Marshall will be Brigadier General F. David Sheppard, director of New York State Office of Homeland Security.
Honorary Grand Marshall is Grace McIver, a Nurse and Community Leader.

Following the parade, there will be a memorial service held in Collins Park near the library. Memorialized will be Brigadier General Stanley W. Hemstreet, veteran, “Father” of the 109^th Air Wing, Kenneth E. Buhrmaster, Community Leader, Michael A. Strenk, Veteran and State Trooper, and Anthony F. Dorazio, Sr. Community Leader.
