ANNUAL CURBSIDE LARGE APPLIANCE PICK UP:
The annual curbside pick up of large appliances will be for two weeks only, from April 4, 2011 through April 15, 2011.
Each appliance to be picked up must have a sticker. Stickers may be purchased at the Village Clerk's Office. All appliances, with stickers displayed, must be placed at the curb no later than 7:00 A.M. on your regular waste collection day. Large appliances shall include washers, dryers, stoves, refrigerators, hot water tanks, dishwashers and air conditioners (please remove all latches and doors that can trap children). Large appliances DO NOT include furnaces or countertop appliances. Such items will not be picked up.
Yard Waste Collection: Yard waste collection will resume the week of April 4, 2011 and will continue until the week before Thanksgiving. As in previous years, your yard waste will be picked up on your regular trash collection day. The rules and regulations are as follows: Yard Waste shall mean residential or commercial leaf waste, lawn clippings and brush. Receptacle requirements: Yard waste consisting of grass, leaves, hedge clippings and twigs etc., shall be in either a 30 gallon compostable paper bag or a receptacle that is rigid and water proof with handles and lid, 30 gallon maximum size, with the container clearly marked Yard Waste. Either receptacle must not exceed 60 pounds. Bundled yard waste, consisting of brush and tree branches that are 4 inches or less in diameter, 4 feet or less in length and weigh less than 60 pounds, must be tied.
Note: Brush and limbs over 4 inches in diameter and stumps must be disposed of by the property owner. For more information please check the Village of Scotia website at www.villageofscotia.org
