It’s annoying when I read people refer to our beautiful lake as Collins Pond when it’s a great body of water, full of activity. Fishing, swimming, watching the sunset, reading a book or just relaxing , Collins Lake provides it all.

Well said! It is a Lake and not a Pond. And those that think otherwise need to do some research too learn the difference.
Is it safe to go swimming here? Wasn't there a problem with geese a few years back?
Yes, I would swim in the lake.
The folks who valued the geese worked hard to keep the population down and the Village invested in an aeration/bubbler system that really helped make Collins Lake great for swimming and fishing.
The Village is continuing to improve the water quality after last years flooding but county wouldn't allow the beach to be open if it wasn't safe.
