Memorial Day Thoughts

Support our troops10th Mountain Division Fort Drum

My thoughts today go out to 10th Mountain Division, based out of Fort Drum NY and their families. While many of us enjoy the privilege of picnics with family and friends our soldiers continue to search for their brothers missing since they were kidnapped on May 12th.

Prom Walk-in 2007

All Dressed up at the Scotia Glenville Prom Walk-in

I still struggle a little with the lighting in the Scotia-Glenville High auditorium, but you can’t deny we have some great looking kids around here. For the fifth year I had the pleasure of attending the pre-Prom walk-in and documenting the event in photos. This year I managed to capture 124 couples and have split the photos into two slideshows. I’m sorry if I missed you and as always, if you’d like your photo removed contact, Bill@visitscotia.com.

Village-Wide Garage Sale IV

This year’s village-wide garage sale will be June 2, 2007! All households in Scotia and adjacent areas of Glenville are invited! Suggested hours of the sale are 9 AM to 4 PM, but each family can set their own hours to suit their sale.

Once again we’ll create a map showing where all the sales are. On the back of the map, all the sales will be listed alphabetically by street. Together the map and the list will make it easy for everyone to find the garage sales all over the Village! We’ll also take out a general ad in the Schenectady Gazette for publicity in the days leading up to the sale.

The map will be available at many Scotia businesses on Friday, June 1. Business with maps will have a neon-orange sign in their windows saying “GARAGE SALE MAPS HERE”. These maps will only be available at the businesses, so stop in your favorite Scotia business and pick one up!

To put your sale “on the map”, please give us the address of your sale and make a contribution of $7.00 to cover costs of printing the maps and the newspaper ad. All proceeds from the Village-Wide Garage Sale will go to the Flint House Museum and the Children’s Museum. Checks are preferred. Please make them out to "Cash" so they can be turned over to the Museums at the end of the sale after costs are covered.

The critical dates are:

May 29 - Last day to register a sale, Deadline 5 PM
June 1 - Maps available at local businesses
June 2 - Sale Day!

If you’d like more information, call 372-6919 or email Scotiasale@att.net I’ll get back to you promptly with the information you need! Questions? Click Here

If you’d like to mail your registration check, please send it to:
